One morning when the sky was very clear and the weather was nice, we went exploring. We took the bus to the relatively new TV tower in Chengdu. It's not very far from where we live. The Sichuan TV tower is the tallest in western China. to me it looks like the Seattle Space Needle. On the top there is a revolving restaurant. We paid our money and rode to the top with a guide to explain everything to us. The observatory from the top was enlightening. I could actually see how big the city looked with its 14 million people. Every window looked out to many skyscraper apartment buildings. We even spotted some mountains. We had heard Chengdu had mountains but looking from the smog filled ground below we were prevented from having the visibility to view them.
Green Apple Elementary School in Chengdu. Pete and I were asked to visit, teach, and present to the faculty and students at the Green Apple School. It was stressful to prepare but we both enjoyed visiting this successful private elementary school. The children were delightful. The faculty was grateful and interested to learn about American schools. Each grade level is on the corresponding floor of the school.
After we presented our friend, Lynsy, a Chinese member of the Church took us to dinner and show. We had fun.

Local Hair Salon
A friend introduced us to a great hair salon not far from where we live. I needed a haircut and found that I enjoyed it so much that I go back every week just for the experience. It begins with a shoulder massage, then a gentle shampoo with a head massage, then a wash with more massage, then a shoulder, neck and hand massage, then a blow dry and style. It's wonderful and very cheap!

Our Visit to the local Wholesale Market
Many scooters are parked at the market. It was raining the day we visited so the bikes are covered. We buy produce at a local market near our home. |
