Places Near or Inside Chengdu

A friend I met at English Corner invited us to travel with him and his wife. We rode in his nice Audi A6 to the the town of Huanglongi, an ancient town. It was a holiday weekend and there were way too many people congregating the city. We arrived early so we missed a few crowds but trying to get back to the car was a difficult task because of the crowds. Yang's wife got lost.

The ancient town was cool with many old buildings and streets

The lady is making flower crowns. Everyone was wearing them to celebrate the holiday.

A river ran down the center of town. Everyone was playing in the water.

Too many people.

Ear cleaning is something that can be found all over China. This gentleman was getting his ears cleaned. They use a very long, thin, rod to do the cleaning.

A cute little girl wearing one of the flower crowns. Isn't her stroller amazing?

This man was pulling noodles from the dough into the boiling pot of water. He did it very fast.

We ate dinner in a private room that overlooked the river as we ate/

Our restaurant was on the river

Here's the food we ate

We ate lots of greens. This one looks very similar to a weed we have growing in our yard at home in Utah.

We saw some interesting poles.

This man was pulling taffy
Our friend Lyncy hooked us up with the Chengdu Daily tours. They took us on a nice bus and we toured some cool things in Chengdu. We saw the bamboo museum and park which we really enjoyed.
The park was beautiful with many bamboo trees

At the museum we saw many beautiful bamboo items for sale. We also watched the ladies demonstrate how the weaving was done. We ate lunch at the museum. It was an interesting lunch with lots of different meats. We filled up on rice.

Our next stop was the kite festival where we saw professional kite flyers. They had beautiful kites of many different sizes. We were also given kites to fly.

The park was full of fun activities including cutouts for pictures. I think we were too big for the cutouts.
It's not often that we saw blue sky in Chengdu, but we did this time.
